Where Have I Been???

Oh, it feels so good to be back!!!  I’ve spent all of last weekend, week, and this weekend unpacking.  We’ve moved to a new house, and I’m so excited to finally be a homeowner after moving around so much as a military family.  Of course, we’re still not finished with all the unpacking.  Heck, we just got internet working YESTERDAY, so clearly I’m still way behind in lots of things.

Of course, any kind of formal education has ceased.  C-Bear has been playing in boxes a lot.  Surely that has some kind of educational value, no?  Eh, probably not.  Oh well.

I sure hope I can get back to normal soon.  I miss our routine!

Free Kindle Book: Kids Cooking and Learning Through Food Activities

Here’s another free Kindle Book.  I’ve been wanting to do more cooking with C-Bear.  So far, I’ve only been brave enough to let him assist me in baking a cake and counting out the frozen meatballs to add to my spaghetti.  Hopefully, this book will give me some more ideas:

Free Kindle Books

I found these free Kindle books on Amazon.com today.  I haven’t looked at them yet, so I can’t offer an opinion on them.  They seem like they could be useful, though.

52 Weeks of Family Spanish, by Eileen Mc Aree

The Wizard of Oz (A Picture Book for Children), by Big Red Balloon

Keep in mind, you don’t need a kindle to read Kindle books.  You can download the Kindle app for FREE, and read them on your computer.  Also, I don’t know how long they’ll be free.  I’ve seen prices change the very next day.

Happy Reading!

Read Something

Man, oh man, do I miss reading.  Before I had my boys, I read 3-5 books a week.  Looking back, it was kind of ridiculous and definitely expensive.  {I always bought books, instead of going to the library…dummy, that I was [am?]}  After I had C-Bear, my hubby got me a kindle, which allowed me to read pretty easily while nursing or rocking the baby.  Still, I had more responsibility having a newborn and all, and that brought me down to one book a week.  Then, C-Cub came along and we moved across the country to start our lives over after being a Marine Corps family.  So much stress in such a small amount of time.  But, that’s another post.

With ALL that going on, I hadn’t realized that I’d stopped reading.  I’d gotten a few homeschooling books for guidance, but that was more skimming than reading.  I’d stopped doing something that I did practically every day since I was a child.  Something that I love.  No wonder I’ve been so ornery lately.  I haven’t read any fiction since before Christmas.  Okay, now that I type it, three months doesn’t seem like that long of a time.  But, it feels like much longer.

It’s been said by many “experts” that reading in front of your children helps them foster a love for reading.  That means, that by not indulging in my love for reading, I’m doing my children a disservice.  I can’t have that happen!  So, because I love my kiddos, and want what is best for them, I’m going to read at least one book a week for the rest of my life the forseeable future.  Really, having my boys witness me reading a book a week, should be considered a part of their homeschool curriculum.  It’s so selfless in retrospect.  Yeah.  Let’s go with that.
